Ukulele Workshop: Level 1 (for Beginners)

This is a basic introductory ukulele workshop presented by the International School of Music, Finland along with our music teacher Silvia Melero Gómez, specially designed for teenagers and adult beginners.
During this workshop, students will not only be introduced to the basics of ukulele (playing melodies and accompaniment patterns) but will also experience singing and playing in a group. Students are encouraged to bring their own ukulele, but ukuleles will also be provided by the school to those who need them.
The workshop is divided in two sessions of one hour each with a short break in between. The contents of the workshop are:
- A short presentation on the ukulele
- Ukulele positioning and tuning
- Basic body percussion and basic strumming patterns
- Basic chords
- C major scale and playing melodies
- Accompanying songs with basic strumming patterns

Age group: Ages 11 and up
Group size: 4-7 students

ABOUT THE TEACHER
Silvia Melero Gómez has obtained two degrees in music education and Music Pedagogy in Murcia (Spain), finishing them with honors. She has been teaching piano, Solfège, Ear Training, Voice, Music Theory, Choir, Music Playschool and Ukulele in several Spanish institutions and privately, developing her work with a wide variety of students of all ages. She has been working at International School of Music Finland since 2014.
