The Global Harp: A documentary about Natalia Castrillón’s musical journey


Natalia is a harpist and music teacher born in Colombia. She graduated from Caldas University (Colombia), and also studied harp, chamber music, symphony orchestra, music theory and ear training at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia). In addition, she worked as a music and harp teacher at Fundación Nacional Batuta, the national system of children and youth orchestras in Colombia, among others. Currently she is studying for her masters degree in Global Music at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.

Natalia is a versatile harpist and teacher and plays actively in different projects that include Latin American, West African, world, and experimental improvised music. As a music teacher she combines methodologies inspired mostly by Edgar Willems and Carl Orff pedagogy as well as her own pedagogical material where music, movement and fun play an essential part of the music learning process of children, youth and adults.
