Paul Nelson has been playing and teaching music for over 35 years. After joining the British Military at 16 years old, Paul performed clarinet and saxophone in venues around the world including Buckingham Palace and The Royal Albert Hall with the 1st  Battalion Royal Green Jackets. He has performed all genres of music and studied for his exams at the prestigious Keller Hall Military School of Music.

After leaving the Army, Paul lived in Spain where he worked in two international schools teaching music with the British curriculum. After that he started and ran two music academies: The Music Factory and then later Nelson Music Academy, where he taught woodwind, drums and vocals for over 25 years following the ABRSM, Trinity London and Rockschool curriculums.

Paul is professional in his attitude to teaching and encourages his students to enjoy all aspects of music and their chosen instrument. After semi-retiring and moving to Oulu four years ago, Paul now performs soprano, alto, tenor saxophones and clarinet in four swing bands and is the coordinator for ISM Finland in Oulu. He also teaches saxophone, clarinet, flute, drums and vocals in English and Spanish.
