Wednesdays & Saturdays in June: Tiny Tunes Music Playschool Lessons

Join us for a fun series of making music with your children this summer! ISM Music Playschool teacher Zane will lead children and parents in musical games and fun exercises on Wednesdays and Saturdays in June.
Our music playschool lessons are in English and open to children ages 0-3 and 3-6.
Wednesdays: June 3, 10, & 24
- At 16:30-17:15 for ages 0-3 with parents

At 17:30-18:15 for ages 3-6 with or without parents
Saturdays: June 6, 13, & 27
- At 10:00-10:45 for ages 0-3 with parents
- At 11:00-11:45 for ages 3-6 with or without parents
Where: ISM Seaside Studio (Ruoholahdenranta 1, Helsinki)
Price: 13€ per session for each child, or 35€ for three sessions

June 12: Pop-Up Choir Event (free!)

Join our Pop Up Choir Event on Helsinki Day!
This free one-evening vocal workshop is open to all singing enthusiasts. Participants will learn and perform a choral arrangement of Coldplay’s “Fix You.” The session is led by choir leader Myra Owens and is accompanied by a live musician. The goal is to work through the song’s harmonies together and conclude with a final informal performance within the gallery space.

Some teachers will also hold smaller class concerts for their students, and you can learn more about concert details from your teacher. We look forward to hearing all of these wonderful performances!
March 26: Pop-Up Choir Event (free!)

Experience the joy of social singing in one of Helsinki’s most acoustically unique spaces! This free one-evening vocal workshop is open to all singing enthusiasts. About the teacher
Myra Owens is an international music teacher who has taught music and conducted choirs in North America, Asia, and Europe since 2008. She has toured with choirs since her youth and has worked as a choir and primary music teacher in both public and top-ranked private schools around the world. She leads the International Children’s Choir at the International School of Music Finland.

February 7: Creativity in Politics at Annantalo

In February 2026, Annantalo will be the vibrant hub of a celebration of basic arts education, as TPO-path goes to Annantalo brings together 11 basic arts education institutions and six art forms under one roof. Throughout the day, visitors can dive into the diverse world of the arts through workshops, performances, and discussions.
The event offers an opportunity to explore how basic arts education fosters creativity, a sense of community, and future skills. The day’s program also includes a panel discussion featuring voices from politics, business, and arts education. The topic of the discussion is Basic arts education as a foundation for wellbeing and a better future.” The panel is facilitated by Hanna Repo-Nikkanen, Rector and CEO of Helsinki Conservatory and will feature:
- Kaarlo Hildén, Rector, University of the Arts Helsinki
- Mirjam Kalland, Professor of Early Childhood Education at the University of Helsinki and child psychotherapist
- Pirjetta Mulari, Director of Annantalo and Head of Children’s Culture
- Tuomo Salonen, Promesa Consulting Oy and Vice Chair of the International School of Music Association
Event schedule:
11:00–12:00: A variety of art workshops for guests (visual arts, crafts, music, literary arts, dance, and theatre)
12:00–13:00: Panel discussion
13:00–14:00: More art workshops
TPO-path goes to Annantalo is part of the national Creativity in Politics campaign, which is now being organized for the fourth time.
The panel discussion and workshops are in Finnish, but guidance will be available for English-speaking guests.

December 13: Indian Music Concert

You are invited to an afternoon of soulful Indian music on Indian instruments (Santoor, Flute, Tabla, Harmonium and Indian Classical and Semi-Classical vocals) performed by students, teachers and guest artists.
Join us as we celebrate the spirit of harmony, cultural diversity, and togetherness through music.

November 20: ISM Open Doors on Children’s Rights Day

November 5: Free Music and Storytelling Workshops for Children ages 3-6

Join us for a wonderful time of musical games, rhythm and movement exercises, and discovering the magic of turning stories into songs!
ISM teachers Sara and Livia will lead children ages 3-6 in fun and creative musical activities that will encourage participation and engage their imagination! No previous musical experience required.
These workshops are aimed at children ages 3-6, and parents/caretakers are encouraged to join as well! The workshop’s language is English, but will also be easy to follow for children with little or no English language skills. All are welcome!
These workshops are organized by the International School of Music Finland in partnership with Helsinki city libraries.

October 4 & 11: Latin American Folk and Popular Music for Guitar (Free Workshop)

ISM Finland is proud to offer an educational and interactive evening exploring guitar playing techniques in Latin American folk and popular music! The workshop will also provide a practical overview of Latin American musical styles and genres.
This workshop is open to intermediate and advanced level guitarists, with or without Latin American music experience. You are encouraged to bring your instrument in order to participate in interactive learning.
What’s in store?

An introduction to genres and styles of Latin American folk and popular music: vals, pasillo; zamacueca, landó; marinera, cueca; milonga, rasguido doble.

Main guitar techniques for accompaniment guitar: strumming, bordoneo, abanico, chasquido, arpeggio.

Applied repertoire and basics of improvisation.
A certificate of participation can be provided upon request.
About the teacher:
Camilo Pajuelo Valdez is a Peruvian musician and researcher. He has studied guitar performance at the National Conservatory of Music of Lima, and has received his Master of Arts from the University of Helsinki. He is currently working towards his doctoral degree at the Department of Philosophy, History, Culture and Art Studies (Musicology) of the University of Helsinki.
Furthermore, he has taught at the National Conservatory of Music, the National School of Folk Arts “José María Arguedas”, the Catholic University of Lima, and as a visiting lecturer at University of Helsinki and the University of Valladolid in Spain. He has also worked as a guitar teacher at the Sibelius Academy (Global Music Department, University of the Arts Helsinki) and the Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH-FRIMA).
