Born in 1997 in Marseilles, France, Faten Ruel began learning the piano at the age of five. She studied at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Marseille first under the tutelage of Anne-Marie Ghirardelli and then Jean-Baptiste Fonlupt. In May 2017, she received her chamber music degree and piano prize, both with honours.
After a year in Rueil-Malmaison mastering her piano practice, she joined the Haute École des Arts du Rhin, studying again with Jean-Baptiste Fonlupt. She attended several masterclasses with Jean-Marc Luisada, Péter Nagy, and Boris Berman, among others.
Faten founded Trio Rajaa in September 2018 along with Juliette Tranchant on the cello and Laurane Pétin on the violin. In her second year of her BMA studies, Faten participated in several international competitions, both as part of the trio and as a solo pianist. Her last year of BMA studies brought her to the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, where she studied with Finnish professor and famous pedagogue Hanna Aho-Oikkonen.
Faten is currently studying towards a Master’s degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the Sibelius Academy. She continues to pursue her passion of chamber music with Duo Toivoä, which was founded in September 2021 along with Sujari Britt on the cello.
