Barbara Mussafia is a professional French cellist with a Master’s degree in cello and pedagogy from the Sibelius Academy.

Originally from Reims in the northeast of France, Barbara started playing the cello at age 6. Coming from a family of musicians, she quickly took a liking to the artistic world. The discovery of orchestral and chamber music allowed her to develop her creativity, her senses and to animate her curiosity throughout her childhood. She continued with her Bachelor and Master studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and graduated with a Master’s degree in cello and pedagogy. At the same time, she began teaching private cello lessons, with students of all ages and nationalities. In 2022 she began training in music playschool for children from ages 3 to 10, teaching music theory in a fun new way.

Barbara has performed with the following Finnish orchestras: Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Lappeenranta Orchestra, and Lahti Sinfonia, among others. She also currently performs regularly with ensembles such as Vantaan Viihdeorkesteri, Mikkelin Kaupunginorkesteri, and Helsinki Chamber Orchestra.
