ISM Finland provides instrument, voice, and music playschool lessons to the diverse community of expats, international families, and everyone interested in multicultural music education in Helsinki and Espoo.
ISM is a registered non-profit organisation with a Teaching License (laaja ja yleinen opetuslupa) from the cities of Helsinki and Espoo and is part of the Association of Finnish Music Schools (Suomen musiikkioppilaitosten liitto).

October 4 & 11: Latin American Folk and Popular Music for Guitar (Free Workshop)
ISM Finland is proud to offer an educational and interactive evening exploring guitar playing techniques in Latin American folk and popular music! The workshop will also provide a practical overview of Latin American musical styles and genres.
This workshop is open to intermediate and advanced level guitarists, with or without Latin American music experience. You are encouraged to bring your instrument in order to participate in interactive learning.
What’s in store?

An introduction to genres and styles of Latin American folk and popular music: vals, pasillo; zamacueca, landó; marinera, cueca; milonga, rasguido doble.

Main guitar techniques for accompaniment guitar: strumming, bordoneo, abanico, chasquido, arpeggio.

Applied repertoire and basics of improvisation.
About the teacher:
Camilo Pajuelo Valdez is a Peruvian musician and researcher specializing in guitar performance, who has studied at the National Conservatory of Music of Lima and the University of Helsinki. He has founded and performed with various ensembles, including Zumbayllu, Temple Diablo, Fueye Trinador, and Grupo Ondú, and currently plays with the duo Cantares and collaborates with Ensemble Wirakocha. His career includes concerts, workshops, and presentations across Latin America and Europe. In addition to performing, Camilo has held teaching positions at institutions such as the National Conservatory of Music of Lima, the National School of Folk Arts, the Catholic University of Lima, the Sibelius Academy, and as a visiting lecturer in Finland and Spain. He now teaches guitar at the International School of Music Finland.
