Pinja Suojoki is a professional musician with 17 years of versatile teaching experience. She has taught at Kymen Conservatory, Musaamo, Muskatti, Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, Kotkan seudun musiikkiopisto, Rokkimuskari, as well as running her own studio in Copenhagen. She studied Pop & Jazz Music Pedagogy at Metropolia in Helsinki. In addition, she works as an educator for teachers, especially in the area of improvisation.

Where are you from and what instruments do you play?
I’m from Finland and I play violin & piano.
If you weren’t a musician what would you be doing?
I’d be an artist.
Where did you study?
I studied pop & jazz pedagogy and improvisation in the Metropolia, University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki.
What was the thing that got you interested in music?
My father is a musician, and my siblings were playing different instruments when I was younger. I thought that it’s a normal everyday thing to do.
Who is your favourite musician/composer?
I like everyone and everything! Challenging music is refreshing, enticing and makes you think how colorful ways your emotions can be performed.
What has been your most special musical experience to date?
When I was a summer musician in the city of Nokia, I was playing on the beach for children who were swimming and singing at the same time. Pure joy, nothing else.
Do you have any secret/not-so-secret (unmusical) talents?
I listen to 80´s music and dance like in the movie Fame. Not that good but I feel like it.
Do you have a guilty pleasure?
I leave my coffee cups everywhere. Usually half full.
