Join us for a fun and free introduction to Indian music for adults! In this workshop, participants be guided through a brief history of Indian music, introduced to some of the different forms of Indian music and singing styles, and be able to participate in some practical exercises for breathwork and singing.

No previous musical experience is required and everyone is welcome to attend. This workshop may be especially beneficial for you if:

  • You have an interest in Indian music and are not sure exactly where to start
  • You would like to try out and know about different aspects of Indian music: classical, light, instruments, bollywood
  • You already have some (or a lot of..) western music knowledge and would like to know how that relates to Indian classical music
  • You just want to try it for fun!

The language of instruction is English. The teacher also speaks the following Indian languages: Hindi, Bengali and some Marathi and Gujarati.

 

About the teacher: Ujjainee Ghosh has a Senior Diploma in Indian Classical Music from a prestigious Indian institution (Prayag Sangeet Samiti), and she specialises in Khayal Sangeet and Indian Light Classical Genre. She has extensive experience in singing various genres of Indian music across different languages. As a music teacher, she strives to tailor the musical approach to each student’s learning style; teaching is not just about imparting knowledge but also about nurturing a deep understanding and appreciation for the nuances of Indian Classical Music.
