Megumi Tiensuu began studying piano in her native Japan. Later, she moved to the U.S. to pursue her studies, earning a Bachelor of Music from Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and a Master’s Degree from Mannes College of Music in New York City. She has won numerous competitions across the U.S. and in Japan. Megumi has performed at Carnegie Hall after winning a competition and in the Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center as a chamber musician. 

Megumi has been teaching piano since her time in New York. She has worked with children and adults of all skill levels, and some of her students have pursued performing arts, receiving high honors from New York state music exams.
